Manuel Lavandera

Manuel Lavandera is an
Argentinian theatre maker with a strong foundation in ensemble and devised performance. After
training in drama in Argentina, he worked with the Accidental Theatre Group under director
Omar Sanchez. Since moving to the UK in 2002, he completed an MA in Ensemble Theatre at
Rose Bruford College in partnership with Song of the Goat Theatre, known for its physically rich
and poetic style. Manuel has since collaborated with international companies including Seemia
Theatre and continues to develop solo and ensemble-based work rooted in physical storytelling
and poetic language. He has recently co-directed Saria Callas, a one-woman multimedia play
about aspiring to be a singer while growing up in a place where it is forbidden for women to
sing. The show has had a successful run in Camden People’s Theatre and will soon be in
Glasgow’s Play, Pie, Pint and Edinburgh Fringe.
Manuel’s passion for performance and storytelling has led him to participate in renowned
international training programmes and workshops, including Theatre du Soleil, Butoh with Marie-
Gabrielle Rotie and The Making Room with Henry McGrath.
